Hammond A-100 with Lounsberry Tall & Fat pedal and a Neo-Instruments Ventilator 2
Nord Stage 3 with B3 organ coming out mono into a Lounsberry Tall & Fat and Lounsberry Organ Grinder, and finally into a Neo-Instruments Ventilator 2
Nord Stage 3 with same exact B3 coming out stereo using the Nord internal rotarty speaker effect.
Just messing around with some new Lounsberry pedals I just received. In this video, the Tall & Fat for the Nord organ was set at 9 o'clock Tall, and 2 o'clock fat. I didn't want too much overdrive. And this also allowed me to set the levels as best I could.
The Organ grinder on the Nord was set at 11 o'clock Level, and 2 o'clock Drive.
The Tall & Fat on the Hammond A-100 organ was set at 11 o'clock Tall, and 2 o'clock Fat. It is being fed by a Trek II Line Out installed in the back of the organ.
I got the two Ventilator 2 pedals set as close as possible to each other. No overdrive was used on the Ventilator that was hooked up to the Nord. Near the end of the video, I do add go from 0% to 100% overdrive on top of the Tall & Fat on the Hammond Organ.
This audio was recorded using a Presonus 1824C audio interface hooked up to Waveform Tracktion 11 DAW.
A touch of Spring Reverb from Eventide H9 Plugin was added to all three organs. And Eventide Omnipressor Plugin helped a little with compression.
There are so many variables to consider when recording organ, that if I did this video again tomorrow, it may sound a little different. Before recording, I set all three organs at the same level using the meters on the audio interface and havng the Leslie sim in "Stop" mode. Then, I adjusted each Lounsberry pedal to to work so there was no huge volume spike when the pedal is engaged. Not sure what that's called, but it's called something.
The overdrive in the Ventilator 2 is fine when I play the Hammond. I can really get down and dirty, and "throaty" without any other pedal.
I would highly recommend each of these pedals from Lounsberry to anyone playing organ, whether it be a clonewheel, or real organ. They sound great, add authenticity, and have a very wide sonic landscape packed into two dials. It's really quite wonderful what these pedals can do.
On a side note, I definitely prefer the Ventilator 2 over the internal Nord rotary sim. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
