I always liked these makita drills. The DHP458 was at a time, one of the best drills you could buy.
But like most tools, there time at the top has passed. They are still a very good drill for the money, with a metal gearbox, heavy motor and top quality Japanese chuck, you couldn't beat it.
But with all brushed machines, when they get over worked and abused, the motor can burn out.
luckily 40 pounds will easily fix one of these up nowadays if you ever burn them out.
you would be hard pressed to find as good a drill for 40 pounds.
