I could hardly believe it when I looked at my sources for this Caddy. This is one of 30 built of these Model 75 convertible coupes! If you had $3,380 bucks in 1940 you could order one of these. 1940 Cadillacs got a minor facelift with grilles that were restyled. This restyled grile covered all the Series: 62, ( which replaced the Series 61 ), 60 Specials, Series 72, 75, and 90. But then Cadillac added a Series 72 which was a one year wonder that stretched between Series 60 and Series 75. And, this was the final year for the Series 90 V16 engine as were as the final year for side-mounted spare tires and the running boards to be phased out. Model year production was up this year by 7% to 37,176 units. Engines planted in Caddys are V8, 346 cid with either 135 bhp or 140 bhp. That dropped V16 engine was 431 cid / 185 bhp. So check this one of thirty beauty with it's mock grille slots on the front fenders, dual sidemounts, red piping on the beige convertible top, faux wood interior, plastic steering wheel, fog lights, spotlight, " engraved" Cadillac script on rear bumper, and real red glass taillights. Thanks very much for viewing this very rare and very beautiful 1940 Cadillac Model 75 Convertible Coupe.
