STORYLINE:
On November 21st 2012 a golden Christmas tree, worth around 4.3 (m) million US dollars, went on show in Tokyo.
It was unveiled by a city jewellery company, Ginza Tanaka, to mark its 120th anniversary.
The tree, made of pure gold, is decorated Disney characters.
It took ten craftsmen two months to complete the 50 polished shapes of characters such as Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Pooh.
Walt Disney, marking its 110th anniversary, agreed to collaborate with the store.
The tree stands 2.4 metres (7.87 feet) tall.
"There are still many problems in the world but it's Christmas so we should put such sadness aside and try to enjoy the Christmas tree for the holidays," said Masakazu Tanaka, from the jewellery company behind it.
The golden tree will be on display at the Ginza Tanaka store in Tokyo until December 25th.
