This was a massive garden overhaul. Just because of what needed doing in terms of redoing the levels around the rest of the garden, I decided the steps needed to be done first then I could match up the ground levels to match.
These were standard Sleepers - 2.4m long, 100mm x 200mm in section. At the time they were £24 + VAT each. As mentioned, the In-Dex screws were £30 for the box and the 2 ground anchor rods were about £3 each.
The circular saw that I used for most of the cuts was a basic Clark model that I've owned for years. The key to making anything like this work is making sure the blade is at 90 degrees to the bed. That way you get clean cuts.
If you are going to buy sleepers, go and choose the ones you want and have them delivered rather than just ordering over the phone and letting them choose them for you.

This is a re-edited and optimised older video. I hope the improvements are of benefit to you. If you have seen the old version, I would love to hear your comments on this new version. There is a new series of videos in post-production now for a full spring lawn makeover, most of the information is relevant to autumn lawn care too. If you want those released sooner rather than later, please let me know in the comments. Thank you.
