Sudanese leaders and rebel commanders meet for a historic peace deal, in what is a crucial first step towards ending 17 years of conflict. Forging peace with rebels has been the cornerstone of Sudan's transitional government, which came to power in the months after the overthrow of Bashir in April 2019.
