New Human Species

Discovered in a cave in the Philippines, these ancient bones and teeth have left scientists scratching their heads in puzzlement as they raise more questions than they answer. In two thousand-seven, a single teeny weeny little foot bone would be found in the cave. It dated back to sixty-seven thousand years ago and upon further excavations in two-thousand-eleven and then again in two-thousand-fifteen, the cave would give up even more secrets. In total, twelve more hand and foot bones were found as well as a piece of a femur and a few teeth. However, they were not quite human, and no, they were not alien bones either. These bones were believed to belong to a newly discovered species of early human named “Luzonensis” because they were discovered on the island of Luzon.

Melanesians

Back in 2016, a group of scientists were studying the DNA of modern-day Melanesians. Melanesia is an area in the South Pacific which includes countries like Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Fiji, and Vanuatu. They discovered there were traces of a long-extinct but previously unknown species of humans in their DNA. It had been anticipated that scientific research would discover two types of DNA, that of the Neanderthals and the Denisovans. But they were extremely surprised to find something else as well.
