I'm sharing this information to raise awareness as our health is very important. Thank you to everyone who has checked in and asked how the journey is going. This will be my last review, I hope you have found this useful.

What are thyroids ?

"The thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland in the neck, just in front of the windpipe (trachea). It produces hormones that affect things such as your heart rate and body temperature. Having too much of these hormones can cause unpleasant and potentially serious problems that may need treatment". (NHS, 2021)

What is a thyroidectomy?

"Thyroidectomy is the surgical removal of all or part of your thyroid gland. Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your neck. It produces hormones that control every aspect of your metabolism, from your heart rate to how quickly you burn calories". (Mayo Clinic, 2021)

Thyroid medication:

"Levothyroxine is a medicine used to treat an under active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism). The thyroid gland makes thyroid hormone which helps to control energy levels and growth. Levothyroxine is taken to replace the missing thyroid hormone. Levothyroxine is only available on prescription" . (NHS.CO.UK)
