Recep Tayyip Erdogan won 51 percent of the vote in a referendum that breaks with nearly a century where parliament was the centre of power. The opposition is contesting the result that gives Erdogan enhanced executive powers. Despite a crackdown on dissent and one-sided campaign coverage, it was - in the end - still a tight score. Why was it so close?
