In this Excel Function Explained video series, I am going to explain, how to use MAX function in excel. Excel MAX function is built-in excel function to find out the largest or the maximum value in a data range in excel. Using MAX function, you’ll be able to extract the largest value from a selected range and place it on a different cell. Remember MAX function doesn’t consider Logical value and text as input.

Let’s learn how to use MAX formula in excel.

The Function looks like this =MAX(Number 1, Number 2, ….)
The Max function has only one argument or parameter.

1. Number: This is the data range from where Max function will return maximum value. You’ll be able to add up-to 255 values inside this function.
You’ll be able to add data range, single cell number or even write values inside the function as long as you separate them with comma.

This is how we use MAX in excel. Remember, using MAX function in excel you actually tell excel formula to return the largest value from a data range.
