STORYLINE:
Spanish Defence Minister Carme Chacon Piqueras visited Spanish troops based in southern Lebanon on Thursday.
Piqueras met with troops based in Ibil El-Saqi and laid a memorial wreath.
She was accompanied by United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Commander Major-General Claudio Graziano.
Piqueras is expected to meet with Lebanese Defence Minister Elias Murr later on Thursday.
Her visit comes as Israeli forces fired artillery north into Lebanon on Wednesday in response to a rocket attack by guerillas.
The exchange was the second since Israel launched its military offensive against Hamas and the Gaza population on its southern flank on December 27.
No one was hurt.
It wasn't clear whether Wednesday's rockets were fired from within the southern sector, controlled by Lebanese troops and UN peacekeepers, or from areas further north.
There are 13-thousand troops in Lebanon as part of the Interim Force.
