As the economic spine Western Europe, the Rhine River curves through the border regions of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, France, Germany and the finally through southern Switzerland, providing all of these countries with an invaluable transportation route.
Along this over 1200 kilometer long path, the river undergoes several distinct phases, ranging from its rapid youthfulness over its fairytale castle section, all the way to the industrial zones and the busiest port of Europe.
