In this talk Prof. Sarukkai walked through some complex questions: Is there an intrinsic inequity when we produce knowledge about other communities, particularly when there is an inherent asymmetry between the producers and subjects of knowledge? What is ethically required of individuals who study the lifeworld of the marginalized? How to ensure that our enquiry does not produce further inequities? The causes of such inequities, including in the domain of public health, range from the use of different conceptual worlds of the producers and subjects, as well as the methods and language used to produce this knowledge.
