(26 Oct 2017) Police in Kenya's third city Kisumu on Thursday clashed with protesters angry at the holding of a controversial election.
Residents of the Obunga suburb said police had chased protestors into a residential area, attacking whoever they could find.
Businesswoman Mary Atieno said she was beaten in her home and injured, and had to be carried away by an ambulance crew.
At the hospital, Kisumu's governor said two protestors had been killed and 29 injured by the security forces.
A Kenyan election official meanwhile said that not a single ballot box has been delivered to the 190 polling stations in central Kisumu, a major city and opposition stronghold.
John Ngutai Muyekho, a senior election official, on Thursday sat with the uncollected ballot boxes in a high school that was guarded by about 30 members of the security forces.
The head of Kenya's election commission said voting in several areas, including in Kisumu, will be held on Saturday.
Opposition supporters who are boycotting the election fought police in some parts of Kenya.
Polling stations were closed and voting did not occur in those areas.
