The age-old problem of traveling with your guitar has caused many an industrious inventor to attempt a myriad of solutions. There are the miniature instruments, which ride comfortably on your back and can be stowed in small places (most critically, the overhead compartment of an airplane), but that dont offer the full-size experience once you reach your destination. Then there are the modular instruments, which come apart (and go back together) using various mechanical means, but that can look like something out of Dr. Frankensteins laboratory upon re-assembly.
