Introduced in 2017, the Seibu 40000 Series (西武40000系) is a hybrid operations EMU rolling stock owned by Seibu Railway (西武鉄道). All trainsets are capable of operating through services to Tokyo Metro's Yūrakuchō Line and Fukutoshin Line. They were fitted with Toshiba IGBT-VVVF traction control system using the quieter Toshiba PMSM motors.
This trainset is a later trainset labelled as the Seibu 40050 Series (西武40050系), where seating is fixed in its longitudinal formation. It allows for more standing space within the cabin, but hence is not capable of paid reserved seating "S-Train" operations unlike the first 5 trainsets built as the 40000 Series.
Through-train services from other railway operators operate on all Tokyo Metro lines except the two oldest ones (Ginza Line and Marunouchi Line). This allows travelers outside of the Tokyo Metropolitan area to travel directly into the city, although fare for each railway section is calculated separately. This recording features one of such rolling stock owned by these companies.
