Welcome to Great Ormond Street Hospital’s video series about epilepsy.
In this video, we discuss living with epilepsy as a young person. Epilepsy affects someone’s brain, causing them to have recurrent epileptic seizures, caused by bursts of electricity in the brain.
Epilepsy is one of the most common conditions that affects peoples’ brains. Around 600,000 people in the UK have epilepsy, that’s almost 1 in 100 people. Most children and young people with epilepsy live full and active lives, although they may need different treatments depending on the cause of their epilepsy, and support to understand and cope with how it affects their lives.
