Technical assistance from FSD Uganda enabled the Expanding Social Protection (ESP) secretariat under Uganda’s Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MoGLSD) to enhance and scale the Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment (SAGE) program. Successes include development of payment standards guidelines for payment service providers and a world-first open tender Request for Proposals (RFP) documentation. By December 2020, the SAGE program had reached over 297,000 elderly people above the age of 80 across 146 districts, 54% of who were women.
