Did you know that elephants have to be killed for poachers to extract their tusks? With estimated 55 elephants killed every day for ivory, illegal poaching is a serious global issue.
Dr. Sam Wasser from University of Washington provided some insights to elephant poaching and the massive global illegal ivory trade when he was here last month working with Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) on the 3,500kg of illegal ivory seized in Singapore.
