Venezuela, a country rich in diversity and tradition. Steering clear of the bustling streets of Caracas, we head to Merida, nestled at the foot of the Venezuelan Andes. At the lively Soto Rosa market, our guide Aura Marcucci introduces us to local fishmongers, exotic fruit vendors, and traditional cheese makers.
Aura shares the secrets behind Venezuela’s iconic dish, the “Pabellon Criollo,” a flavorful recipe enjoyed across the country. Next, we indulge in a sweet treat, “El Quesillo,” a delicious crème caramel infused with passion fruit and guava juice. Finally, we savor the “Pizca Andina,” a hearty Andean soup that’s a daily staple for farmers in the Merida region. Lesbia Rojas, a local cook from the village of Acequinos, prepares this traditional dish just for us.
