This is such an incredible spot, if you live in the Mackay area and have not been to check out the Dumbleton Weir, then you're most definitely missing out!
Located only a short 20 minute drive from Mackay's city heart, there is adventure here for the whole family. Watching the sunset over the top of the weir is absolutely breathtaking, with beams of bright orange shining on the picturesque backdrop of rapids, rocks and green bushland. You can fish downstream from the weir, along the river's edge, or throw in a kayak and venture across to the rocks to get right in the middle of the action. From 5pm onwards, the barramundi and sooty grunter are very active and if you've got soft plastics, you're bound to catch something. If fishing is not your thing, have a go at kayaking or rock climbing your way downstream, taking in the scenery and wildlife as you go.
