This video is about how my young Elderberry Successfully Survived its 1st Winter in Record Breaking Cold Temperatures. The first year of an elderberry’s life is the most critical for its long-term health and viability. To ensure my young Elderberry shrub survived the first year it required some preparation. I will share how I monitor and prepared my Lemony Lace Elderberry for its first winter.
This Lemony Lace Elderberry is a smaller cultivar and attains a height and spread of 3-5 feet at maturity. Its deciduous and the mature height is 3-5 ft, white flowers in the spring, red berries in the fall and is loved by songbirds
Elderberries are rugged plants that benefits from hard pruning. It's especially helpful to do hard pruning as a young plant to develop a bushy growth habit.
