PREP: cook chana for sandal
* Wash and soak chana in water for 7 to 8 hours.
* Drain the water and put it into pressure cooker.cover with water and add salt to it.
* Pressure cook it for 1 whistle, then simmer gently for 4 minutes.
* Switch off the flame, let the pressure to release by itself.
* Open the pressure cooker and drain the water and set aside.
1 tsp — oil
1 tsp — ghee (optional)
1 tsp — black mustard seeds
1/4 tsp — asafoetida
10 — fresh curry leaves
2 cups — chickpeas (chana)
3 tbsp — dried shredded coconut
1/4 tsp — ground red chilli
1/2 tsp — garam masala
1 tsp — salt to taste
In a pan, add 1 tsp oil and 1 tsp ghee( optional), add 1 tsp mustard seeds, add 1/4 tsp asafoetida, 10 fresh curry leaves, give it a stir, add 2 cups of boiled white chickpeas (chana), stir thoroughly for 2 minutes, add 3 tbsp dried shredded coconut, stir thoroughly for 1 minute, add 1/4 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala, stir fry for 1 minute, add 1 tsp salt or to your taste, stir well and it’s ready to serve.
