Well this set ended up clogging the bench for 8 days. The deaf receive was caused by the 45Khz IF filter. Replacement made a huge difference & the FM receive sounded normal again. Changing the 10.695Mhz IF filter corrected the rest of the receive snag. Then the set stopped receiving at all, and TX was taking about 3 seconds to happen, so I suspected a snag withing gthe wax filled VCO department. In the meantime I changed the LC7137 PLL IC as some channels were missing. Mr Chippie removed the wax & the radio sprung back into life with no further components needing to be changed.
