Nio's president, Lihong Qin, denied earlier reports that Firefly would feature a hybrid model. Instead, Firefly will follow Nio's pure electric route with "chargeable, swappable, and upgradable" battery technology. The official unveiling is set for December 21 in Guangzhou. Nio also clarified that it has no plans for hybrid models, with CEO William Li joking that they would only consider it if Tesla did.
