In-Circuit Test (ICT) is a fundamental aspect of electronic manufacturing testing processes. It involves the examination of individual components and connections on a printed circuit board (PCB) while it is still in the production stage. Unlike functional testing, which evaluates the overall performance of a device, ICT focuses on verifying the integrity of the PCB itself.
ICT employs specialized equipment, typically a bed-of-nails fixture, to make contact with specific points on the PCB and measure various electrical parameters. By applying test signals and analyzing the responses, ICT can detect faults such as open circuits, short circuits, incorrect component values, and assembly defects.
