인도네시아 화산 폭발로 최소 10명 사망 '최고 수준' 경보 발령
Moving over to Indonesia, where at least 10 people have been killed in the volcanic eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.
According to the Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation, Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, located on Flores Island in the east of the country erupted at 11:57 on Sunday night, explosively spewing columns of scorching lava and volcanic ash, which hit villages some four kilometers away, burning houses and damaging infrastructure.
Local authorities said that the volcano has been raised to the highest alert level, with residents in a seven kilometer radius from the volcano's crater urgently evacuated, while villages within 20 kilometers of the crater have also begun evacuating.
Indonesia's volcano agency also warned of potential flash floods and cold lava flows in the coming days.
