Sébastien has allowed me to post some of the video interviews we've had and I'm likely to share edits from future episodes too. Coming from a French farming family, his insights are fresh and I find his software system very interesting. In April I plan to interview him about it and other interesting topics related to sustainable agricultural praxis.
If you have any questions about it you should put them in the comments!
The common glue trap or yellow sticky card is ubiquitous in agriculture, and besides a cursory review of its contents quite a lot of important information can be ascertained about pest (and beneficial insect) population dynamics. But recording these details is highly time-consuming! I often worked with people who used this for tracking leafminer flies and their biocontrol, the Diglyphus wasp week-to-week. Another is simply to have a first recording of certain pests and be able to tell if treatments are working using these passive traps.
Bug Vision uses a powerful software suite to identify these insects, even if they're somewhat marred which is a common occurrence. The data can be associated with a space and time so that on a mapped out grid the information can be quickly updated.
