This is a different kind of Christmas song, that we wrote in 2021, reflecting that although the pandemic has changed how we see things, we are determined that it's not going to take hope away from us all.
...and you can have a listen to the other single on the release, which is our parody version in our more familiar style. It's in partnership with the amazing Prostate Cancer UK: 'Mack the Knife (Prostate Cancer - Facts of Life').
'Bring Us A Candle' was written and recorded at home (near Faversham in Kent), and released on 26 November 2021. Huge thanks to the wonderful people whose patience and support helped us to figure out the process and to release it, amidst the mayhem of schools and jobs in COVID world:

LYRICS (Ben Marsh):
Bring us a candle - the power went off when the lightning struck
We endlessly waited in circles and watched as supplies burnt up
It was some kind of madness that descends at the dawn
Never reaching the end of a sentence that no-one deserved after all
Bring us a candle
Riding out the storms
Carving out a path
Pick up when you fall
Never looking back
Holding out for Christmas
To bring a little cheer
And wishing you were here
Bring us a candle to measure the time now the clocks don’t run
They’re showing it’s 19 forever, we can’t get the hands to turn
It was some kind of madness that descends at the dawn
Never reaching the end of a journey if nobody knows where you’re from
Bring us a candle
Riding out the storms
Carving out a path
Pick up when you fall
Never looking back
Holding out for Christmas
To bring a little cheer
But wishing you were here
We’ll watch the horizon, with eyes on the darkening skies
And look for white horses to break down the wrecks and the lies
I saw three ships come sailing in, come sailing in, come sailing in
Saw three ships come sailing in on Christmas Day
On Christmas Day
On Christmas Day
On Christmas Day
We can see the stars
Lighting up the sky
Breaking through the dark
Glowing in your eyes
Holding out for Christmas
To bring a little cheer
Still wishing you were here
