Cleopatra's Needle is the OLDEST man-made object on the streets of London.
This majestic 3500 year old monument can be found on the Victoria Embankment by the River Thames.
Together with Pompey's Pillar, they were described in the 1840s in David Roberts' Egypt and Nubia as "[the] most striking monuments of ancient Alexandria"
Obelisks are known as a representstion of eternity and immortality, and their long, tapering form functioned to connect the heavens and the earth.
FUN FACT: the sphinxes are facing the wrong way round. They should be facing outwards to guard the monument!
