A video I created for my Mazdaspeed remote tune customers demonstrating how to perform the various types of datalogs required for Remote Tuning (E-Tuning) a Mazdaspeed 3 or 6. Keep in mind that these are the generic datalogging guidelines for these cars. Your vehicle and specific setup may require different datalogging methods or parameters however these are the general methods most commonly used and required.
The 3 Basic forms of datalogs demonstrated are:
1) Idle Datalog - This allows me to analyze how the engine is running at idle especially in relation to RPM, AFR, and Fuel Pressure
2) Mass Air Flow Calibration (MAF Calibration) Datalog - This allows me to calibrate for the appropriate fuel delivery by analyzing fuel trim data in relation to the Mass Airflow Sensor's Voltage output. This must be done on every vehicle and is different for every brand & size of intake.
3) 4th Gear WOT Datalog - This allows me to optimize the engine for maximum power potential by dialing in boost, fuel, and ignition timing and analyzing how the engine sweeps through 4th gear at Wide Open Throttle (WOT). 4th Gear will provide the best load & boosting characteristics which is why this datalog must be done in 4th. Doing this log in other gears for tuning purposes will result in potential engine failure as the tune will not have been properly calibrated for the best loading characteristics that the engine sees.
