Lee Wen was a pioneering performance artist from Singapore who wrote poetry, played the guitar, and made paintings. Most of all, he made ideas come alive through his performance art. In 2020, the Center for Biographical Research in Honolulu awarded Li Shan the Biography Prize for her coursework essay on Lee Wen.
Li Shan Chan is a PhD student at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, with an interest in life writing. Prior to this, she completed writing residencies at the Asian University for Women in Chittagong and Sing Lit Station in Singapore, as well as an MA in Biography and Creative Nonfiction at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England.
