Founded: 1798
Situated: Next to Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands
off the very Northern coast of Scotland
Owned by: Edrington Group
also owns Macallan and the Famous Grouse brand)
THIS WHISKY
Discontinued NAS Single malt from Highland Park distillery
Named after Magnus Eunson founder and smuggler who worked in the darkness of night
Replaced by the Valkyrie expression
Matured in 80% first fill sherry casks (double the usual) and 20% refill sherry casks
ABV 46.8% ………… Non chill filtered
COLOUR
Rich mahogany
NOSE
Sherry, stewed plums, nutty, caramelized sugar, coffee, chocolate, baking spices, hint of smoke, honey, liquorice
TASTE
Sweet, rich, chocolate, plum, tangerine, sherry, hint of smoke, nutty, oak spice, pepper
FINISH
Hint of smoke, chocolate, lingering spice
WITH WATER:
Nose: softer, light sherry, toffee
Taste: more earthy, barley sugar, oak spice
