Zoya Balakrishnan is a sophomore at Watchung Hills with a passion for psychology. As a first-generation Indian American student, she is fascinated by the various ever-changing cultural and social norms found in today's world. Having visited over twenty-five countries and spent three years living in Europe, she is well-versed in the nuances of different cultures around the world and is fascinated by the role this has played in developing her own identity and culture. “How Much ‘I’ in Identity?” delves into our warped definitions of identity as well as all of the hidden factors that play a role in developing and changing it over time. A personal reflection combined with psychological research, her talk promotes introspection on our cultural identities and how they affect our lives on a day-to-day basis.
