(28 Feb 2021) Anti-coup protesters in Myanmar used blankets, water and fire extinguishers to try to contain tear gas from canisters fired repeatedly from police lines, in Myanmar's largest city, Yangon, on Sunday.
Footage showed youths initially running from the projectiles as they bounced across the roadway, then returning to try to stifle the contents.
The violence erupted early morning when medical students were marching in Yangon's streets near the Hledan Center intersection, which has become the gathering point for protesters who then fan out to other parts of the city.
There was no immediate word on casualties in Yangon.
Sounds of gunfire could be heard.
Security forces now appear to become more aggressive in using force and making arrests as the popular uprising against the February 1 military takeover continues to gather steam.
