The Florence Biennale is the main contemporary art exhibit in Florence and it has always represented an excellent showcase of the world’s contemporary art. Every two years it animates the city of Florence thanks to a rich program featuring conferences, exhibits, performances, and educational events, which offer artists and visitors various opportunities to learn about and discuss some of the main themes of art and culture.

From its first founding in 1997, the Florence Biennale has taken pride in being one of the few international events (if not the first of its kind) to be organised as an independent and self-financed stage for contemporary art. It features all the principal forms of expression of the visual arts: painting, sculpture, art on paper, photography, installations, video art, digital art, mixed media, ceramic, textile art, performance, jewelry art. Now in its tenth edition, it has exhibited the work of almost 6000 artists from more than a hundred countries.
