Stiltz is a male Grey-Headed Flying-Fox pup who was spotted by one of the colony checkers, high up in a tree, alone with no sign of a mother coming back for him. He was alone during the day on 2 consecutive days.
Pole rescues are always tricky at such heights, with the pole very wobbly and difficult to control. Netting him didn't work, because he wouldn't let go of the branch, but putting a stuffed sock on the end of the pole was more effective, and he decided to climb onto it as a big mother figure to cuddle.
He came to me for overnight care and stabilisation, then went to another carer. I called him Stiltz because we could have done with some stilts to aid with his rescue.
Way to go Stiltz.
