With the 75th Independence Day around the corner Self Help Groups at Jamagurighat in Assam's Sonitpur district have taken up the task to prepare over 14,000 national flags. The initiative is taken to mark the golden jubilee celebration of India's Independence and was announced during the inauguration of the flag marketing centre on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, artisans at the Assam Khadi and Village Board have also targeted to produce at least 5 lakh national flags ahead of Independence Day.
This is after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the tricolour home and hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.
