As the wall building project continues, so does the opposition. We have seen the external attacks of the enemy seeking to stop the program. Facing seemingly impossible odds, the people begin to be discouraged leading to a loss of strength and vision in order to complete the project. Moreover, the attacks by the enemy intensifies, which adds to the discouragement of the people. Facing such opposition, Nehemiah sets up a plan to allow the building to continue while at the same time having a defense against the enemy. Pastor Jack points out that from this passage we learn that opposition is inevitable, but we must continue on serving the Lord.
