Tributes were paid to the 15 Indian policemen who were killed along with a driver in a Maoist insurgent attack in Gadchiroli district on Wednesday, May 1. The police chief of India's western Maharashtra state said the sacrifice of the soldiers killed in a landmine blast would not go in vain. The Maoist insurgents, responsible for the attack, known as Naxals, have battled the state for decades, saying they are fighting for people left out of a long economic boom in Asia's third-largest economy.
