Hello, this is Adam Khan, and welcome to your Azure Daily Minute for Thursday, April 13th, 2023.
Yesterday, Read replicas for Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server became generally available. The read replica feature enables you to improve the performance and scale of read-intensive workloads. Read workloads can be isolated to the replicas, while write workloads can be directed to the primary. Read replicas can be deployed in a different region and can be used as a read-write server in the event of a disaster recovery. Replicas are updated asynchronously with the Postgres engine native physical replication technology.
You can replicate from the primary server to up to five replicas. Azure Database for PostgreSQL - Flexible Server is a fully managed PostgreSQL database as a service offering that can handle mission-critical workloads with predictable performance and dynamic scalability.
Also yesterday, Target Based Scaling for Azure Functions became generally available. Event based scaling is fundamental to the serverless promise. Target based scaling is an improvement on the Azure Functions Consumption and Premium plans scaling experience, providing a faster and more intuitive scaling model for customers. It is currently supported by the Service Bus Queues and Topics, Storage Queues, Event Hubs, and Cosmos DB extensions. Azure Function is a serverless compute service that enables user to run event-triggered code without having to provision or manage infrastructure.
That wraps up the Azure Daily Minute for Thursday, April 13th, 2023. Until next time, take care and go build great things!
