We are Iggs and Morts. After giving up our jobs to travel for a while we are splitting our time between Turkey and the UK with a dabble into Europe for good measure.
In this video we head from Lake Eğirdir to the Roman metropolis of Sagalassos in the taurus mountains of SW Turkey in the Burdur region.
We experience the Tuurkish ways of being hospitable and helpful when our bus driver flags down a local bus on a busy city dual carraigeway so we can complete our journey to Sagalassos via the quaint town of Alysun .Here we need a mini bus up the mountain but a lovely Turkish lady and her family act as our unofficial tour operators and negotiate the onward journey and haggles a price for us all! She even negotiates the return journey which made the trip stress free for us. Thank you lovely lady!
The ruins here are spectacular and boast the unique fountain which has worked continually up to this day with water cascading through it. A beautiful feat of plumbing and engineering from the Romans! The carvings and marble statues are seen to be believed.
We loved exploring the ruins. The views are glorious . There is of course the obligatory cat and kittens to steal the show!
Our return journey takes us back to Isparta where we have some food before heading back to Fethiye.
