We have introduced two important new features with our recent update of our security product AVG 2012. AVG 2012 Summer Update (SP1) gives users the power of 'proactive advice' via new features in the shape of AVG Do Not Track and AVG WiFi Guard.
AVG Do Not Track feature gives consumers control over their own online privacy. This feature informs consumers about data being collected by various websites as well as giving them the choice to decide whether he/she would prefer not to be tracked.
This allows consumers to identify and block advertising networks, social network buttons and web analytics engines that can collect user activity through the settings menu. Users can also choose to notify these websites about their preference to prevent tracking, if they wish.
Also in SP1 is AVG WiFi Guard. This is a handy advisor that warns users if their device attempts to connect to a vulnerable public WiFi that they have not used before. This could help users from unwittingly joining an open public network that carries a familiar name to one they may have joined previously.
