Ohio State landed not one, not two, not three but four transfer additions in a span of less than 24 hours.
After former West Virginia running back CJ Donaldson Jr., Idaho State defensive end Logan George and Purdue tight end Max Klare all committed to Ohio State on Monday, former Rice offensive tackle Ethan Onianwa committed to Ohio State on Tuesday, becoming the second transfer offensive tackle – along with former Minnesota OT Phillip Daniels – to commit to the Buckeyes for the 2025 season.
All five of those players have the potential to make a major impact for Ohio State in 2025. Onianwa and Daniels address Ohio State’s biggest need in the transfer portal and project as the Buckeyes’ likely starting tandem of tackles next season. The Buckeyes didn’t necessarily need a transfer tight end, but Klare is perhaps the most exciting portal so far as he’ll give Ohio State a major receiving weapon at tight end.
Donaldson brings a proven track record of production and tough running that will help the Buckeyes replace TreVeyon Henderson and (likely) Quinshon Judkins next season. George isn’t yet a household name as he comes to Ohio State from the FCS level, but there’s good reason to believe he can form a quality trio at the defensive end position next season with Caden Curry and Kenyatta Jackson Jr. after he recorded 19.5 tackles for Idaho State this year.
