The Punjab government has taken a U-turn as far as the Stubble burning case is concerned. While Delhi continues to choke in the polluted air, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, the minister of agriculture and farmers' welfare in Punjab, announced on Sunday that the state government has revoked the directive to mark red entries against the revenue record of lands where stubble burning had been detected. Red entries deny farmers the advantages of specific government programmes. Dhaliwal said that he had issued orders ordering the removal of red entries made by the central government ordered the burning of stubble in the revenue records of farmers and that a notification had been issued in this regard. He said that the National Green Tribunal (NGT), a central authority, had revoked the instructions it had given in a letter it issued on October 4 to make red entries against Khasra numbers of revenue records.
