A student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) said, “It’s not going to be the end until the genocide ends, and the funding for the genocide ends,” after being arrested by police at the Palestine solidarity encampment.
On Thursday, UCLA witnessed a tense standoff as hundreds of police in riot gear launched a pre-dawn raid on an encampment filled with about 400 peaceful protesters demonstrating against Israel’s war on Gaza.
The police used helmets to swarm a tent city set up at the university, employing flash bangs and riot gear to push through lines of protesters who linked arms in a futile attempt to halt their advance.
The Los Angeles police stated on social media that 210 students were arrested at UCLA, with hundreds of arrests made at other universities overnight and on Thursday.
