Traditional violin craftsmanship found in the city was added to Unesco’s list of “intangible cultural heritage” in 2012, and students from around the world come to learn the craft at Cremona’s prestigious International School of Violin-making.But the centuries-old traditional industry faces fierce competition from China, which is now the world's leading producer of cheap, bowed string instruments.
