(20 Sep 2012) The US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns met Libya's foreign minister in the capital Tripoli on Thursday.
Ashour Ben Khayil welcomed Burns and a delegation of US officials to the foreign office for talks.
Burns' visit comes after the US Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, and three other Americans were killed in an attack on the US consulate in Benghazi on September 11.
US officials in part blame the attack on an anti-Islam film made in the US that, hours before the Benghazi assault, had sparked protests at the US embassy in Cairo.
