They say that water is life, and this is more true for many many people who struggle daily to access potable water. One of the major challenges is having a water source like a river, but that the water is unsafe. Water filtration is not new nor is slow sand filtration, but until now this method has been done mostly on a large scale. Well, a fourth-year chemical engineering student in the School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at Wits, Busisiwe Mashiane is hoping to change that developing a system that can address the needs of South Africans at home.
