Jardín is officially my favorite place in Colombia. It’s like a Tropical, Wild West Town where they still ride horses and life moves at a bit of a slower pace. Not to mention, there is some incredible nature including caves, waterfalls and hiking trails.
The bus ride from Medellin (Bus Terminale Sur) to Jardin takes between 3 and 4 hours each way. I recommend spending at least a weekend, or even longer, here.
Here are a few hostel recommendations:
Lulo Guest House (Leads the free hike to the waterfall featured in this video.)

There are actually two cable cars; a new one and a rickety old vintage one. I really wanted to ride the old one but ran out of time.
A new friend taught us how to play Colombian style pool in which you have to hit the balls in numerical order. On weekends the locals ride their Paso Fino horses into town parade-style and I’ve literally never see anything else like it!
